JORDI TORTOSA: DE PEL.LÍCULA
July 2008

his paintings are a personal research to be able to tie what a day got loose among the inside and the requirement to reveal the privacy of the space and the moment, inseparable. A privacy that appears from the family places, of where we are. He simplifies the stroke and the color predominates, above everything, to show those places that are opposed to the daily life. That which is diametrally opposite to the day to day, to the routine. His works represent, moreover, an indicator of his worries, aesthetic as well as philosophycal. The research of an own point of view it is no more than the research of a conceptual referent that makes order in a life untidy and worried..

MIQUEL TORNER DE SEMIR AT THE ESPAI CULTURAL FRANCOLÍ
April-May 2008

Born in 1938 in the Garrotxa, Miquel Torner de Semir has always felt attracted by the Middle Ages. His teacher, Ricard Marlet, introduced him in the Modernism and Catalan Noucentisme. Other great influences are Velazquez, the artistic trends of the Parisian painting of the 20th century, Giotto and the Italian Reinacence. All of these makes his artwork, as he himself affirms, to be between the old and the new.

The painter marks the silhouettes of the main elements of each composition with strong and precise lines, and uses flat and pure colors for expressing the feelings. His palette is cheerful, of bright colors. When he can he paints the picture within the picture also with signs of abstract look. His wellknown feminine figures have the paused forms of the religious art, very serene and elegant.

GUIDED TOURS
January 2008

The garden of our cultural space, a privileged corner in the middle of the city, has been source of inspiration of this new project which we want to present you. Placed between Gracia and Sant Gervasi, the neighborhood has been portrayed in unforgettable ways in many of the novels of one of our more universal writers: Mercè Rodoreda. 2008 is commemorated the centenary of the birth of the author, and this has seemed a good pretext to us to turn on a new initiative in the Espai Cultural Francolí, the guided itineraries. We are talking about a series of several walks all over Barcelona, related with different areas of the culture, and that they intend to make yourselves discover the surroundings in a pleasant and different way.
The first itinerary which we would like to propose you introduces into the streets of these neighborhoods that the writer from Barcelona knew so well and that we can rediscover through her personal view.

LUIS IGNACIO CARÍAS
15 - 30 November
teresarius: promotors d'art has the pleasure of presenting the artwork of this multidisciplinary artist of Venezuelan origin that he lives in Catalonia since year 2000. It will be the first time that we will be able to appreciate together the painting, sculpture and drawing of Carías, as well as be able to listen his music, since besides versatile artist and graphic designer, he has just recorded his first record of own compositions in the World fusión gender in the study Mas Silvestre of Martin Probst in Gaüses, Girona.

It must be said that from 1988 Luis Ignacio Carías has not stopped making individual and collective exhibitions and since he was 16 years old he has been working with musicians of every kind for America of the south and Europe.

As affirmed Myriam Robles, Director of the Museum Sacro of Caracas, Luis Ignacio Carías expresses into his work elementary realities that he himself works without previous outlines in a process within, without hesitations, with a great certainty, leaving sideways the academic knowledge for guiding himself by the intuition in search of a lyrical minimalism loaded of spirituality. The absence of the color in some cases, the presence of textures, the fabric, are the constitutive elements of a similar plastic language in big figures of the contemporary art.

The work of Luis Ignacio Carías is an invitation to enjoy the beauty of the plundered and to attempt to appeal and to experiment our own territory of freedoms.

PAQUITA VILADRICH
17 - 31 October 2007

This autumn the painter Paquita Viladrich, born in El Poal, presents us her artwork in a double exhibition in the neighborhood of El Farró in Sant Gervasi, Barcelona. In La Coqueria of the Zaragoza street we will be able to appreciate until the 3rd of December her small sized artwork, oils and engravings, of varied subject matter and in the espai cultural francolí, venue of teresarius: promotors d'art, we will enjoy a selection of work of medium and great format.

The work of the Paquita is personal, with a stressed sense of the luminousity. The reality is the basis about the one that she structures her paintings based in reality and developes her sense of color to create an own world that transpires naturalness and leaves imprint of her pictorial sensitivity. The result is a beatiful painting, rich in details, lavish in tones, where the drawing, omnipresent because of its quality, it holds the structure of her artwork.

The espectator likes the work of Viladrich-Giné for all of this and for the fact that she transforms objects of the daily rutine in poetry, she paints them and fills in them with magic until exalts them to convert them into Art in upper case. This affection goes through the fabric and surrounds us. Her exhibitions, like her, make us feel like 'at home'. Where everything is known, calm, on the measure, used up by the use and the time... And however, where we wish to go back after a long day. Everything on her work, well carried out, settles about the global harmony, on the serene games of shadows and lights. In her artwork it rules the equilibrium, the serenity and the creative sensitivity, attaining an intensely pictorial resolution.

Laura Gazeau at La Coqueria
29 August - 15 October 2007

With her paintings this artist manages to transmit sensations and emotions in which every spectator is let lose during some minutes in a different way. The landscapes that to some transmit peace and calmness, perhaps melancholy inspires to others. They make us meditate on ourselves, on the pass of the time. They highlight so much the strange and disturbing obtained depth as 'one natural good taste' in the composition and the combination of the colours.

Josep Guixà : Magic and doors
10th to 24th of July 2007

teresarius: promotors d'art in collaboration with the curator Marcenia Baqués they organize in the Espai Cultural Francolí of Barcelona an exhibition of the one recognized Catalan artist Josep Guixà.

In few years several individual exhibitions of the Catalan artist Josep Guixà have been presented, teacher of teachers as for structures and materials is related. Not in vain all his experience in the professional field of the construction has alternated a plasticity and originality exceptional with a ferrous discipline in the research and creation of textures, consistencies, strokes, colors, spaces and supports, that they have brought, to his artistic creation. His dense and long trajectory in this wonderful spiritual profession has cost him recognition of critics and public.

About his "constructions", as Arnau Puig pointed out about the series dedicated to Gaudí, Guixà returns us the magnificent work of the architect through some complex materics skillfully constructed, with strong texture and brightness, which do not attempt to copy to Gaudí but to make it for us feel in other dimensions. "With Gaudí, he surprised us with details of the Pedrera and of the Park Güell, of the Holy Family and of the Batlló House. Details that thanks to his magician palette has been able to entertain as research and homage, without intending to appropriate a total reality that goes beyond it. From here his particularity.

Being with this line of the detail, Guixà presents us on this occasion a subject that he has been using for a while: a luck of façades, doors, balconies, windows, some framed, in his own rural landscapes, the fundamental characteristics of which they are this materic voluptuousness and consistent of what we spoke formerly. Intense reality, sometimes discolored and demolished almost mysterious and lugubrious in other, where the step of the time can be touched with the breath and the look. Then the reality evokes ours old constructions, those of formerly, those of the village, those of the old house or street, even the ones of the soul... Those that are perpetuated as witness dumb persons of the transformations of our existence. Entries or exits (as they see themselves), that sit-ins always hide "events" intimate, particular, personal, holy. Each one of these impossible "openings", contains the magic of the unknown. Guixà achieves it. We invite you to "snooping" among his dense cracks.

Maria Huerga
29th of June to 29th of August 2007

The artwork of this artist of Manacor is based on a series of dreams and utopian architectural projects as well as also the most metaphysical part of the own existence.

In this exhibition of works in small format we find intimist abstractions where it is frequent to find traces of the nature. What Maria wants to show is a metaphysical reality, oneiric, full of impossible characters, of another world.

Maria Huerga investigates with the colors. Working with the primary ones and with these she obtains all the other ones. The way to order them it is important, the purpose is to produce the mental vibration of the color, through the disposition of a neuter color with a primary, one secondary with a pure color. The saturation is also mystical, it is the exoticism of the color.

Ramon Vila-Rovira, Materia Viva

26th to 30th June 2007

Presentation of the art book and Inauguration of the art show “Ramon Vila-Rovira, Matèria Viva” at the Hartmann Gallery of Barcelona.

Dr. Vila-Rovira has become an important figure, known and well-loved for his personal charisma and acknowledged at a national and international level for his achievements in the field of plastic surgery. However, artistic creation, his other passion, may be unknown to many people. Among his creations the drawings and oil paintings of his first stage, such as collages, abstract works and more recent sculptures stand out from the rest. With the presentation of his book and the exhibition we want to penetrate into the world of Vila-Rovira; a fascinating, touching, thoughtful, critic and sincere world. After abandoning figurative art, Ramon takes a step further to bravely evolve to form and matter topics, once again a reflection of his great personality. Vila-Rovira goes into a world of found and recycled objects and plays with a contrast of textures, forms and colours that seem to take in the passage of time, his interests and experiences.

Those who deeply involved themselves into this project wish that the presentation of his new book Ramon Vila-Rovira, Matèria Viva will mark a new start in his artistic career and will enable him to put his work and mind in order to initiate a new style; so the world will be able to admire a unique man who not only uses a scalpel with sensibility and talent but any artistic instrument to unveil the great artist inside.

Opening hours: Tuesdays to Fridays from 10am to 2pm and from 5pm to 8pm; Saturdays from 11am to 2.30pm

Galeria Hartman · C/Sta Teresa, 8 Barcelona

Rocío Anhert ’s oil paintings
16th to 29th June 2007

Rocío Anhert’s paintings are “open” artworks of art which take the audience to a world of sensations. Each of her paintings, far from being a mere imitation of nature, is in fact an interpretation of nature itself.
In her paintings, an instant of light or a chromatic corner turn into an orgy of light and colour, where each stroke is a sign of exquisite sensibility. When one stands in front of Anhert’s work, with its wise stream of light and colour and its Mediterranean sensuality, one realizes the great and exigent painter that lies behind each painting.

Opening night: Saturday, 16th June 2007
Dates: 16th to 29th June 2007
Opening hours: Mondays to Fridays from 11.30am to 2pm and from 6pm to 9pm

Berenice’s fairies and dancers
21st May to 20th June 2007

Berenice is the pseudonym that artist María La Placa uses for her decorative line. She diversifies her work by creating unique decorative objects and paintings.

Her work is all hand made and her creations embellish any room, and yet adapting to the environment still bring a magic energetic sensation that other industrially produced objects obviously can’t. In this exhibition you will discover a fantastic world full of dancers, fairies and jokesters; the ideal decoration for a child’s room or the perfect present for a First-Communion celebration.

Sandra Turnbull
10th April to 21st May 2007
teresarius: promotors d'art organizes two watercolour exhibitions of the English artist in the cafeteria/delicatessen La Coqueria and the art gallery/erotic shop Desig.

Turnbull’s fascination lies in human figures, in a constant search for new ways to present nudity. Turnbull observes sexuality from a feminine point of view and questions beauty and the distortion made of it so as to get a reaction from the audience. To the artist, creation is an uncontrollable desire to express explosive emotions. The painter uses vibrant colours, well-balanced environments and humour talent to awake our emotions.

Desig: Mondays to Saturdays from 11am to 2pm and from 5pm to 9pm.
