"Joana Figueres, encounters"

Joana F¡gueres, plastic artist born in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, presents us her artwork of the last two years of production in the Espai Cultural Francolí, venue of teresarius: promotors d'art.

The creative root of this Catalan artist, known already for many, comes to her given by the show business, having worked in theater and television, and always parallelly with the painting, finally she tended to this last. Hers are materic works, rich and elaborated, shows us an exquisite combination of colors, not so living as at the beginning but more reflexive, and mixed with one searched and always present texture, which she combines harmonically with the detail, with the drawing insinuated, with the subtle incision. They contribute undoubtedly the studies and the experimentation continued with the drawing, that sometimes turn up with a point of oneiric or surreal, sometimes with reminiscences of Klee or Ponç.

Behind all this there is a will of expression without conditions nor approaches, undoubtedly, a priori, without strategies, Joana Figueres does not search the transcendence, but is more visceral, she searches an aesthetic communication. It is a burst of creation that is guided by the instinct, by the authentic feeling of the artist, by the desire to find her own way that it is not the result of any aesthetic prejudice. The intuition of the colors that are combined, the intuition of the questions that worry us, the intuition in the forms that make of a landscape an essential almost abstract drawing.

The paintings of Joana show us an open speech, a wide range of possibilities that can only be the result of a constant research, of a deliberate desire not to get stuck in any of the landings of her career. Because of that each step of her path interests us, because she awakens our interest and our emotions, and because we know that the only thing that guides her is the irrenunciable freedom of the artist: the freedom of creating.

BACH FLOWERS

Imparted by Ana Miranda, pedagogical-guiding graduate in Chemical Sciences, teacher, and floral therapist. Independent monthly courses, although the three months would form a vision more complete of how to work the emotions with the Flowers of Bach. The flowers of Bach can be for us from great help to identify and to transform the negative emotions in positive. In this way we will be able to attain one senior equilibrium and, consequently, a fuller life.

READING WORKSHOP

Imparted by the Catalan philologist and teacher of Catalan Language and Literature Helena Arnedo. From always, and until the present, many writers have plotted, with their words, the drawing of the Barcelona of every moment, and have converted it into space, stage or protagonist of their works. With these workshops that we have the pleasure of presenting, we would like to accompany yourselves, at the same time, for the streets of our city and for the pages that so well describe it, in order to be able to discover, still, delicious surprises. The sessions will go accompanied of its corresponding dossier and of a literary itinerary through the neighborhoods of Barcelona. Price: 60 €.

Imparted by the painter and teacher of art Mireia Codina. Independent monthly courses, although the three of them would form an approach more complete to the art of painting. Price: 75 € (including material).

PHOTOGRAPHY

Basic course of Photography, practical workshop, use of the camera, basic concepts, parameters to take into account, as to achieve better pictures. Saturday 12th and 19th of July from 10am to 6pm. Price: 95 € (including lunch).

TORNER DE SEMIR AT "CAL XULLAT"  

teresarius: promotors d'art has the pleasure of presenting the artwork of this great artist of the Catalan painting in the popular shop delicatessen "Cal Xullat" of Torrelles de Foix. The rural villages, those that feel placed near a river and that a bridge gives access, they are usual in the painting of Torner de Semir. They all are shown with living and luminous colors, even though a yellow moon hanged in a corner of the sky suggests night environments. The painter marks the silhouettes of the main elements of each composition with strong and precise lines and uses the flat and pure colors to express the feelings. It has an own style that he founds in the simplicity of the realization in a very well structured composition. Also we highlight his famous feminine figures, known as Menines.

FABIO PALUMBO AT ESPAI D'ART NOVARTIS  
The multinational pharmaceutical company Novartis has trusted teresarius: promotors d’art to start off a plastic initiative. As a sensitive company to the world that surrounds us Novartis wants to make an approach to the vision of this through the art. In a monthly basis will show an exhibition of Spanish artists in its space of the Canteen of Gran Via of Barcelona. This project has started off together with the Group BPMO, corporative publications.

To start the season we presented the works of the artist Martin, and until mid November Francesc Chamayou is the chosen artist, followed by the photographer Fabio Palumbo, 15th of November to 15th of December, Jordi Guillén and Àngel Uranga and Hernan Galbiatt.

This month from teresarius: promotors d'art we want to highlight the original lithographies of the recently dead artist JOSEP GUINOVART (Barcelona, 1927-2007), painter and engraver recognized internationally. We present a series of 22 lithographies on two inks, enriched at hand and carried out in the year 1995. Stamped on the Fulvio Workshop on paper of thread Velin Arches of 250gr. on sizes 11 x 18 cm. Of each model an edition of 70 numbered and signed copies has been made. They can be presented framed or in a folder including the curriculum of the artist.

'Beata Ocaña', La Rosa del Vietnam, Peu de la Creu 21 Bis, Barcelona. First exhibition of this new art gallery located in Raval to yield homage to the figure of Ocaña in the 25th anniversary of his death. We can see figures in maixé paper representative of his entire career, some drawings and two audiovisuals. Until the 15th November.

'The Barcelonas of Barcelona', Sala Ciutat, Ciutat 2, Barcelona. The new City Room makes the debut with the exhibition 'The Barcelonas of Barcelona'; it has wanted to establish its starting point with different visions of the city in a pleasant and participative tone. Photographers and artists, writers and movie makers, and also the same citizens propose us a collage of diverse images on our city, which becomes protagonist through the pictures, videos, books, films and objects that they compose this first sample. Until the 31st December.

'Bruce Labruce. Blowback', Antigua Casa Haiku, Mila i Fontanals 14, Barcelona. Solo photographic exhibition of the irrevent, iconoclast and provoker artist, writer and movie director of Canada Bruce Labruce. In this show we can see around twenty works of the last 10 years, pieces surrounded of a particular homo-erothic universe of representation. Until the 28th November.

'Ródtxenko, The construction of the future', La Pedrera, Passeig de Gràcia 92, Barcelona. Retrospective exhibition with some 250 works of one of the main figures of the art of avant-garde of the 20th century. Aleksandr Ródchenko (1891-1956) was a versatile artist boss of rows of the Russian constructivism, pioneer of the Soviet photography and graphic designer. Until the 5th January.
