ANDRÉS GAVILANO

The main worry of this artist is not to obtain a cold linear perfection, but that he searches to endow his works with warmth, life and sensuality, not only in sight but also in the touch. His sculptures have a solid and organic presence, combining figurative values and absolute values in the form.

The favorite material of Andrés Gavilano is the sodalita; a very appreciated gem not only for his beautiful color and hardness, but also for the beneficial powers that they claim for it; it is said that this is the stone of the immensity and that its presence activates our knowledge and creates consciousness.

Gavilano sculpts with skill and talent, highlighting the wealth and possibilities of this precious stone thanks to the different textures that he achieves and to the stylized forms that transmit physical and spiritual beauty. This artist of Bolivian origin who lives in Barcelona, works in varying formats, from small sculptures of 10 cm for company gifts or as prizes from contests up to the feminine figures of two meters of height, that were exposed recently in El Corte Inglés.

Besides numerous exhibitions to international level, his work is present in centers of contemporary art and art collections in Asia, Europe and SouthAmerica. From 1999 he is member of the International Association of Sculptures with venue in Seoul, Korea. He has represented Bolivia in several international events and he has monumental work in Argentina, Bolivia and China.
