ISABEL SÁNCHEZ
forms and textures in the nature

1st to the 30th October 2009
Inauguration: Thursday the 1st October from 19 h

During the month of October, the Espai Cultural Francolí, venue of teresarius: promotors d'art, will show for the first time in Barcelona the work of the Valencian artist Isabel Sánchez, that goes around the nature, its forms and textures, with some works (painting, sculpture-pottery and engraving) that will not leave indifferent anybody.

The artist wants to endow with soul in the space suggested by the textures and the forms of the minerals broken, of the trunks of the trees, in the different organic ways that she presents us, and makes it through a re-interpretation of the nature, adapting oneself to the needs of expression. Paintings and sculptures of a strong expressiveness and convincing, a set of forms, volumes and textures, that enjoy the sintetitzation, of the reality, harmonizing and searching lights and shadows in the volumes, are the result.

So, Isabel Sánchez, deegred in Fine Arts by the faculty of San Carlos of Valencia, presents us an exhibition of her long artistic trajectory, where several stages of her work are gathered, from her beginning as a sculptor in pottery until her last works in painting.

On the sculpture-pottery two well defined stages are seen. In the first, the pieces are more sober and robust, standing out the recreation in the minerals, of its forms and textures harmonizing volumes and using always discreetly the color subordinated by force of the textures. In the following stage a change in the representation, where the color is stressed, keeps on being appreciated with the use on the varnishes with showier colors, as well as the use of the polishes giving them a major variety in the expression of the forms.

In the painting the nature is also the great inspirer of the pictures, where the motive are different trees, in particular their bark, their texture and their forms, some times soft and others strong, searching a part that draws the attention because of its color.

SEPTEMBER 2009

10 D'ART GROUP SHOW

3rd to 25th September 2009
Inauguration: Thursday 10th September from 7pm

To start the the new season 2009-10, during the month of September, the Espai Cultural Francolí, venue of teresarius: promotors d'art, has trusted the gallerist and photographer Carlos Moreno to curate a new collective exhibition that gathers 10 artists of different styles and techniques: Andrés Mauri, David Casadesús, Edith Cohen-Gewerc,  Isabel Cosin, Ana Molina, Pallàs, Inés Rosal, Marta Rourich,  Rodney Samuelson, Joan Tauleria.

Andrés Mauri is a photographer who searches the precise equilibrium between what it is or can be real and what it is not. A method of constant work that finds its main tool of speech in its capacity to extract aspects supposedly hidden in the common and routine one.
David Casadesús is a painter strongly marked by the impressionists, he frequents the landscape gardening of the region in which he lives, as well as the still lifes, the flowers and the human figure.
On the delayed work of the Israeli artist Edith Cohen-Gewerc we find a constant, that is her choice from concentrating her research in the exploration of the interior landscapes of the human being, exercising an attraction in the viewer towards the reflection on the multiplicity of possible realities.
Isabel Cosin is one skillful and proved artist in the conjunction of oil and collage, she uses materials that ennoble her canvases, such as a bread of gold, silver and copper, elements that shine and create reflections on putting on the light on them, emerging like this new readings of the work.
Ana Molina is a great landscape gardener in the field of the photography that combines her interest in freezing with the gift of the opportunity the fleeting instant. The exuberant but ephemeral nature maintains forever all its splendor in the magical images of this young and promising photographer.
The artist Pallàs is a tireless worker in the research of new ways of expression, offers an abstraction still more conceptual but still like this more richer, in her research of "suggesting more with less".
With Inés Rosal we find women and men that they are without showing their face. Men and women who do not exist but who give form to their clothes. Birds, hats, sticks, clothes... a symbolic universe in which this worthy heiress of the great surrealists of formerly lives.
The self-taught painter Marta Rourich is very influenced for her profession, the graphic design, showing her floral works narrowly tied with the mentioned knowledge, not only from the technical point of view, but also on time of deciding its composition.
Rodney Samuelson is a catalyst of different cultural visions, bringing a conceptual innovation in the form of amalgam of civilizations. From the American nativism to the Gothic stained glass windows, passing through the mythology of the children's books, he creates a personal pictorial environment, very well solved technically.
'To Create is to express a thought across new paths', like this the artist Joan Tauleria summarizes some persevering plastic restlessness in the time, a vital need to observe the reality that surrounds him and an externalization of his interior world through the imagination.

MARTA CASALS
WOMAN, INSTANTS & WINDOWS

4th to 30th of June 2009
Inauguration: Thursday 4th of June from 7.30pm

Marta Casals, plastic artist born in Figueres in 1976, graduated in Fine Arts and Graphic Design, presents us her artwork in, what it is to the date, the most complete solo exhibition in an art gallery, the Espai Cultural Francolí, venue of teresarius: promotors d'art, from the 4th to the 30th June 2009.

In this exhibition two stages of the work that Marta Casals has developed during the last years are gathered. The first, "The universe of the woman", initiated in 2007 with a series of drawings and paintings where she explores the feminine figure, where the paintings show several attitudes in the face of the life through several flashes attracted by the brush.

From the first outlines of this series, paintings on canvas of greater sizes kept on appearing where she started to introduce new elements, like for example the series "windows", elements of the exterior that drew the attention of her and she chose with great success. Other paintings are a fruit of research with several materials, like paintings on silk and the overlaps of materials. This mixed technique has allowed her to create some textures, some colors and some transparencies that make her feel more near what she wants to express, figures that combine the expressiveness and the transparency appear, they are translucent and fragile, and at the same time of a strong personality.

The second stage of this exhibition goes around "urban subjects", however the presence of the human figure persists, and in all works the woman continues as a main protagonist, but in a different way, now already integrated into the urban life and interrelating herself; at the same time she shapes the instants of the daily life of these characters and of the reality that surrounds them. These women who stroll, speak and live in the city, could be the same ones that in the first stage looked at the exterior from their windows; now they have already gone out to the world, they already share it, surer, creating a circle that comes from the inside and it expands. Like this the works of Casals show the evolution of the woman and also of the same artist: now they already walk surer.

The Espai Cultural Francolí uses this exhibition for making a series of parallel activities around the figure of the woman (it is necessary to make previous booking):

- Friday 5th, Route 'Barcelona from the look of the woman', ConèixerBCN.
- Wednesday 10th, Lecture of opera 'Carmen of Bizet', Pere Zanuy.
- Friday 12th, interactive Workshop of self-esteem 'Love yourselve', Mar Galindo.
- Sat. 13th, Course of Photography 'The woman and the photography', TRÉBOLBCNART.

NOVEMBER 2008

JOANA FIGUERES, ENCOUNTERS

Private View: Thursday 13th of November from 7pm
Dates: 13th of November to 5th of December 2008

The creative root of this Catalan artist, known already for many, comes to her given by the show business, having worked in theater and television, and always parallelly with the painting, finally she tended to this last. Hers are materic works, rich and elaborated, shows us an exquisite combination of colors, not so living as at the beginning but more reflexive, and mixed with one searched and always present texture, which she combines harmonically with the detail, with the drawing insinuated, with the subtle incision. They contribute undoubtedly the studies and the experimentation continued with the drawing, that sometimes turn up with a point of oneiric or surreal, sometimes with reminiscences of Klee or Ponç. Behind all this there is a will of expression without conditions nor approaches, undoubtedly, a priori, without strategies, Joana Figueres does not search the transcendence, but is more visceral, she searches an aesthetic communication. It is a burst of creation that is guided by the instinct, by the authentic feeling of the artist, by the desire to find her own way that it is not the result of any aesthetic prejudice.

OCTOBER 2008

JORDI GUILLÉN, THE FIRST JOURNEY

Dates: 9th of October to 7th of November 2008

The paintings of Jordi Guillén (Igualada, 1970) transmit us sensations of calm and harmony, they invite us to a personal reflection, stimulating the viewer to get lost in his own interior world, while having a walk, in a certain way melancholic, towards oneiric, very personal spaces and with a clear organic and natural reminiscence.

His paintings transport us to imaginary moments, they make us think of the human being like part of the nature, so at physical level as well as spiritual, they speak to us about palpitations, liberation, dreams, natural energies, invisible forces that surround us..., in short of this intimate and personal dialog that the artist has in relation to each circumstance of his life. With this so intimate and personal work the author speaks about some interior landscapes that attempt to establish a deep dialog between him and his creations, making at the same time participant of this dialog the viewer opening him a path that will drive him to poetic and sensitive horizons.

JULY 2008

JORDI TORTOSA, OFF FILMING

Dates: from 3rd to 31st of July 2008

This summer Jordi Tortosa, plastic artist born in Sant Cugat del Vallès in 1959, presents a selection of his oil paintings. Tortosa proposes us a new project, related with one of his fascinations: The cinema. But he makes it in a way different to what perhaps we are accustomed. Tortosa discovers, under the sequence and under the basic goal of the film, the plastic force that there is on the basis of the communication. Jordi Tortosa's reflexion is about the instant, almost as a contrast of the sequence.

Tortosa has not aimed for a conceptual work (easy resource to avoid some of the many technical difficulties) but eminently plastic and expressionist. He is not completely faithful to the model and he appeals to the freedom of the artist to modify what he believes necessary. Thus, in some cases, he repositions the scene in other stages (generally Cadaqués) or he adds or takes out elements.

LUIS IGNACIO CARÍAS

teresarius: promotors d'art has the pleasure of presenting the artwork of this multidisciplinary artist of Venezuelan origin that he lives in Catalonia since year 2000. It will be the first time that we will be able to appreciate together the painting, sculpture and drawing of Carías, as well as be able to listen his music, since besides versatile artist and graphic designer, he has just recorded his first record of own compositions in the World fusión gender in the study Mas Silvestre of Martin Probst in Gaüses, Girona.

It must be said that from 1988 Luis Ignacio Carías has not stopped making individual and collective exhibitions and since he was 16 years old he has been working with musicians of every kind for America of the south and Europe.

As affirmed Myriam Robles, Director of the Museum Sacro of Caracas, Luis Ignacio Carías expresses into his work elementary realities that he himself works without previous outlines in a process within, without hesitations, with a great certainty, leaving sideways the academic knowledge for guiding himself by the intuition in search of a lyrical minimalism loaded of spirituality. The absence of the color in some cases, the presence of textures, the fabric, are the constitutive elements of a similar plastic language in big figures of the contemporary art.

The work of Luis Ignacio Carías is an invitation to enjoy the beauty of the plundered and to attempt to appeal and to experiment our own territory of freedoms.

OCTOBER 2007

PAQUITA VILADRICH

This autumn the painter Paquita Viladrich, born in El Poal, presents us her artwork in a double exhibition in the neighborhood of El Farró in Sant Gervasi, Barcelona. In La Coqueria of the Zaragoza street we will be able to appreciate until the 3rd of December her small sized artwork, oils and engravings, of varied subject matter and in the Espai Cultural Francolí, venue of teresarius: promotors d'art, we will enjoy a selection of work of medium and great format.

The work of the Paquita is personal, with a stressed sense of the luminousity. The reality is the basis about the one that she structures her paintings based in reality and developes her sense of color to create an own world that transpires naturalness and leaves imprint of her pictorial sensitivity. The result is a beatiful painting, rich in details, lavish in tones, where the drawing, omnipresent because of its quality, it holds the structure of her artwork.

The espectator likes the work of Viladrich-Giné for all of this and for the fact that she transforms objects of the daily rutine in poetry, she paints them and fills in them with magic until exalts them to convert them into Art in upper case.

This affection goes through the fabric and surrounds us. Her exhibitions, like her, make us feel like 'at home'. Where everything is known, calm, on the measure, used up by the use and the time... And however, where we wish to go back after a long day. Everything on her work, well carried out, settles about the global harmony, on the serene games of shadows and lights. In her artwork it rules the equilibrium, the serenity and the creative sensitivity, attaining an intensely pictorial resolution.

JULY 2007

JOSEP GUIXÀ : MAGIC AND DOORS

teresarius: promotors d'art in collaboration with the curator Marcenia Baqués they organize in the Espai Cultural Francolí of Barcelona an exhibition of the one recognized Catalan artist Josep Guixà.

In few years several individual exhibitions of the Catalan artist Josep Guixà have been presented, teacher of teachers as for structures and materials is related. Not in vain all his experience in the professional field of the construction has alternated a plasticity and originality exceptional with a ferrous discipline in the research and creation of textures, consistencies, strokes, colors, spaces and supports, that they have brought, to his artistic creation. His dense and long trajectory in this wonderful spiritual profession has cost him recognition of critics and public.

About his "constructions", as Arnau Puig pointed out about the series dedicated to Gaudí, Guixà returns us the magnificent work of the architect through some complex materics skillfully constructed, with strong texture and brightness, which do not attempt to copy to Gaudí but to make it for us feel in other dimensions. "With Gaudí, he surprised us with details of the Pedrera and of the Park Güell, of the Holy Family and of the Batlló House. Details that thanks to his magician palette has been able to entertain as research and homage, without intending to appropriate a total reality that goes beyond it. From here his particularity.

Being with this line of the detail, Guixà presents us on this occasion a subject that he has been using for a while: a luck of façades, doors, balconies, windows, some framed, in his own rural landscapes, the fundamental characteristics of which they are this materic voluptuousness and consistent of what we spoke formerly. Intense reality, sometimes discolored and demolished almost mysterious and lugubrious in other, where the step of the time can be touched with the breath and the look. Then the reality evokes ours old constructions, those of formerly, those of the village, those of the old house or street, even the ones of the soul... Those that are perpetuated as witness dumb persons of the transformations of our existence. Entries or exits (as they see themselves), that sit-ins always hide "events" intimate, particular, personal, holy. Each one of these impossible "openings", contains the magic of the unknown. Guixà achieves it. We invite you to "snooping" among his dense cracks.
