Martí Rom is a sculptor with roots of the Field of Tarragona, precisely in Mont-roig. For more than twenty years -since 1975-  he has been crearing sculpture artworks. Throughout these years he has developed a wide work, rich in approaches and, at the same time, rich in suggestions.

The wood, the iron, the bronze, the steel, the aluminum, the inlays of lead..., with regard to the materials, and the integration, the juxtaposition, the assembling..., with regard to the procedures, they take it to a new family of objects, of rich symbolic charge, where the mythical, the objectual and the instrumental establish a different and original synthesis, which is shown in the contents and in the bonds of every work.

Three main references surface in the plastic universe of Martí Rom: Picasso and his ingenious acrobatic capacity to transform the most trivial objects into works of art; Miró and his dense oneiric world full of freedom and of wise innocence, the found object; and the bad called "primitive" art, with its schematic forms and its symbolic hermetism. The three have an essential common denominator, something that captivated Martí Rom from his beginnings, when he knew and treated Miró, discovered Picasso and made contact with the universe of the masks and the African art.

Tireless traveller of the interior world, through the bold manipulation of the materials, obtains the harmonic piece, wisely worked. Moderate observer, Martí Rom recovers of the oversight daily objects, tools of the field or domestic utensils, to the constant search of the recovery of the roots, with what, the mixture of natural and artificial elements turns into a perfect binomial, overflowing of absence of superficiality.
