The sad beauty of a left orphanage for tuberculous patients

The tragedy, the fear and the sorrow that can transmit a left orphanage for tuberculous patients. This is the subject matter, grotesque but attractive, of the last exhibition that will be opened to the Cultural Arcàdia Café. It is about the last sample of the works of Manel Quirós, a young photographer only of 22 years.

"The color the desires painted of life" it is the name of this exhibition, a work of fifteen pictures of this orphanage, a sad place but that the photographer comes back beautiful across his image. Some pictures without color, in black and white, this yes, full of hope and feeling by Quiròs.

Manel Quirós was born in Mataró, Barcelona, in 1984.

He showed a great interest in photography since he was little, using for the first time a camera to do a report on the poet Jacint Verdaguer, for which he gained his first competition at the age of 15.

In 2002, at the age of 17 he graduated as Assistant of Graphic Design and Serigraphy in a course organized by the Municipal Institute of Education of the Town Council of Mataró.

In 2003 he started to study the career of Specialistic Technician in Graphic Design. In this same year he started to work as photographic designer in the office of edition of a photographic store called TANDEM fotografs.  And in 2004 he finished the career at 19 years of age.

For these dates he was presented to a competition of photographic finishing touch, obtaining the first prize.
From 2004 to 2006 he dedicated himself much more to the artistic  photography focusing on the one-colored subject, and in all his subjects he states a personal mark that makes of his black and white photographs a very personal style.

At present with 22 years he keeps working as photographic designer in TANDEM fotografs and studies at the University of Valencia, in the Department of Theory of the Languages and Sciences of the Communication, the Diploma of Professional Specialization in Digital Photography and Treatment of the Image.

In 2007 his project "El Color Lo Pintaban Tus Ganas De Vivir" has seen the light in two exhibitions in the Cultural Coffee Arcàdia, of Mataró and in the Tobacconist's Shop "Plaça Nova", of Argentona.
